Informed consent

Consent, confidentiality, and care.

Participating in any Committed in Christ retreat or course is a choice. Before you say yes, here is what you’re agreeing to — and what we promise in return.

What you’re agreeing to

  • You’re participating in an educational and spiritual-formation program — not therapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment.
  • Participation is voluntary. You may take breaks, use a “not now” stop signal on any exercise, and withdraw at any time.
  • You’ll treat your own spouse — and other couples — with respect, and never use teaching or spiritual authority to control or pressure them.

What stays private

Your conversations with your spouse are private between you. Facilitators hold anything you share with them in confidence within the facilitation team.

The honest limits of confidentiality

Like any responsible ministry, facilitators have an obligation to act when someone is at serious risk. Confidentiality may not be kept if there is:

  • risk of serious harm to yourself or another person;
  • abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult; or
  • a requirement of law or a valid court order.

We’ll tell you about any limits clearly before anything is shared, and we’ll always involve you as much as the situation safely allows, consistent with our ethical duty and applicable law.

Contact, recording, photos & stories

  • Contact — we’ll contact you only about what you signed up for. Any broader updates require a separate opt-in.
  • Photos, recording & testimonials — always opt-in and separate; never assumed. Anonymous only with written consent.
  • Sensitive details — trauma, abuse, infidelity, or medical details are never used in public stories.

Your right to withdraw

You may withdraw from any program at any time, for any reason, without needing to justify it. We’ll honor your decision and your refund terms.
